Unexpected Arrival By Lord Archive (A writer's block when I really want to write on my series production.) Legal Babble: Characters belong to Rumiko Takahashi and a bunch of companies that are way to slow it bringing it to America. Burrowed without permission. ------------------------------------- Ranma smiled as he approached the Tendo home. Ranma sighed. He walked through the gate and approached the door. With each step he became more and more nervous. His hand shook as he opened the door. "I'm back!" he called. Nabiki literally jumped in hall. Her momentum carried her into wall. Ranma was surprised by this 'greeting.' Nabiki quickly regained composure and put on her business face. "So you made it back already. I take it you're cured then." Ranma sadly shook his head. Nabiki frowned. "So why are you back? We didn't expect you for a couple months." "I didn't have any leads and I wanted to see Akane." "I see. You want to marry her?" Ranma nodded. "Yes." He nervously looked around. "Where is everyone? Where's Akane?" "I'm the only one home right now. I can take you to where Akane is, but I need to make a phone call first. Wait for me at the gate." Ranma nodded and walked to the gate. Nabiki quickly picked the phone and dialed. "Hello, Daddy. How is everything going?" "All right Ranma, lets go." Nabiki said rubbing her ear as if she just heard a loud sound. "Where are we going?" Ranma followed Nabiki. "To Akane," Nabiki replied simply. "And where is Akane?" "The place we are going." Ranma scowled slightly. "What is the name of the place Akane is at that we are also going to?" Nabiki smiled. Nabiki then frowned. "I think it'll be better that I don't tell you until we get there." "Why not?" "I have my reasons. We'll be there soon enough." Ranma tried to get Nabiki to tell him what's going on, but she wouldn't give him a straight answer. Ranma started to fear something was wrong. Why else would Nabiki visibly fluctuate between emotions and wouldn't answer him? His fears grew as he learned where they were going. "W-why didn't you tell me we were going here?" Nabiki sighed. "Telling you sooner would've only made you scared sooner." "I-is Akane...?" Ranma asked scared of out his wits. He was staring at a sign. "We're almost there. All your questions will be answer then." Ranma was shaking as they approached the room Nabiki indicated Akane was in. Ranma's thoughts raced, Ranma opened the door. He froze. He saw her. He saw Akane. She was lying on a bed. She looked to be in pain. A hell of a lot of pain. She also looked like she put on some weight. She was screaming at him. She screamed in pain. She screamed in pain because of a contraction. She was giving birth. He fainted. "Damn it! Show some backbone!" Akane screamed. She knew she should've taken the drugs. "He's the father?" the doctor asked. "YES!" Akane screamed. "The first time I see him since he did this to me and he faints! Stupid BAKA! Wake up!" Nabiki smiled, pocketing her camera. She glanced up and saw her father dragging a Catholic priest behind him. "Is he here?" Soun cried. "Yep," Nabiki said, pointing at floor. She then poked her head into the room. "Akane, still want to marry him despite not finding the cure?" "I don't give a damn about the curse! Wake him up!" A nurse used some smelling salt to wake Ranma. Ranma got of the floor and stared at Akane not believing his eyes. "A- Akane?" "Don't just stand there!" Akane yelled. Ranma slowly walked toward her. "Am I... the f-father?" "Of course you are, Baka! Who else do you think I'd have sex with, Ryoga?" "Well..." Akane snarled, "I'd sooner make bacon out of him!" Ranma flinched slightly. Soun interrupted the reunion. "Why don't you continue this after you're married?" He pushed the priest towards them. "Do you two want to get married?" the priest asked. They Ranma and Akane looked at each other, both wanting the other to answer first. "I already asked them. They both want to get married," Nabiki answered for them. "Y-you want to marry me?" Akane asked, tears in her eyes. "Of course I do. I tried to cure my curse for you. You want to marry me?" "If I didn't want to, I wouldn't have kept our child," Akane said before screaming in pain. "Better make it quick if you want to be married before the baby is born," the doctor said. "Okay. Do you..." the priest began put paused pointing at Ranma. "Saotome Ranma," Ranma answered. "Saotome Ranma take..." "Tendo AkaNE," Akane attempted to say. "Tendo Akane to be your lawfully wedded wife?" "I do," Ranma blurted out quickly. "Do you Tendo Akane take Ranma to be your lawfully wedded husband?" "I do," Akane said, wanting everything to be done with. "Do you take each other through sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, until death do you part," the priest said with an amazing quickness. "Yes," both answered. "Does anyone object?" The priest quickly looked around. "You are now husband and wife. You may kiss the bride, and then sign this." He held out a wedding certificate. Ranma kissed Akane, but was broken off as Akane screamed in pain again. They then quickly signed the certificate. Ranma held Akane's hand. She had another contraction, and there was an audible crack as she broke his hand. Ranma didn't really notice as he heard the doctor say, "I see the head." A few minutes later the cries of a baby boy greeted the newly wed parents. Ranma gently brushed some hair off her face. "I'm sorry I wasn't here for you. I'm really sorry." Akane lay there, smiling and panting. "It's all right, I know you did it for me. I'm happy you made it back in time." "So am I. I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't." The doctor walked over with the baby, giving him to Akane. The parents smiled at their son. "Do you have a name picked out?" Ranma asked. Akane nodded. "I was thinking Tenma." "It's a perfect name." Ranma kissed his wife. Soun and Nabiki watched the scene, crying. The door slammed open as Genma and Nodoka entered the room. Both gasping for air as if they ran a marathon. "You're a little late," Ranma said smirking. "Ranma!" Nodoka elated, hugging her son. "You made it back." "Yeah. Just in time to see my son born." "Son?" Nodoka looked at Akane and little Tenma. "He's beautiful!" She scowled at Genma. "I so much wanted to be here, but someone had a little legal problems." "That was master Happosai's doing, not mine," Genma said defensively. Nodoka ignored him. "Anyway, are you getting married soon?" "Um, we already did," Ranma said sheepishly. "I'm so happy for you two." Nodoka smiled and then scowled at her husband again. "All right, everyone out," the doctor ordered. "The mother and her child need some rest." The Tendos and the Saotomes left the room. Ranma stayed with Akane and his son anyway. He couldn't really believe what just happen, had happened. He just did what he usually did, he tried to cope with it. --------------------------------- After some time Ranma left the room to let Akane sleep. He saw Kasumi and Nabiki talking on cellular phones, while Soun was talking to his parents. "How are they?" Soun asked. "They're doing fine," Ranma answered. His thoughts were in a blender. "Is there anywhere I can sit?" Nabiki grinned, putting away her phone. "Of course. Right this way." Ranma followed Nabiki, his mind replaying everything that just happened. He entered a room and saw Ryoga, Ukyou, Shampoo, Mousse, Cologne, Kuno, and several other friends and enemies. He smiled nervously. "It's a boy," was all he could think to say. Nabiki thought evilly. ----------------------------------- Akane woke up hearing an explosion. She groaned as she heard the intercom blare a medical emergency in the waiting room. "Stupid baka," she muttered, before falling asleep again. ----------------------------------- Author's note: This story idea started a while back when I read MASN, thinking that Ranma would return when Akane was in her eleventh hour of her pregnancy. When I read Legacy it only added to it. Then yesterday I thought of the title and the story practically scripted itself in my head. Though I played with it to delay and obscuring the reason why they going to the hospital as long as possible, and not even mention the hospital to boot! The baby's name isn't going to be the same as the first born of two of my series. I debated having a scene where the priest baptizes Tenma and find out the curse is inheritable, but that's the punch line of several spamfics so I didn't feel it'd be a good addition. I might write the scene, but it'd be the start of the fic and not the end.
