    Briefly

   So far there have been three games, two radio drama series, a manga serial,
and two animated series with a third in the works for this cute girl classic.
The games are full of nods to many anime shows and the anime follows suit. The
first series, in particular, is loaded with tributes, parodies, in jokes, and
cameos from most titles you can name. For instance, Yuna’s mech (standard term
for giant robot), El-line, is formed in the games by her four android angel
servants transforming and combining, a la just about every robot show of the
seventies. Angel leader Elnar is voiced by Yuriko Yamamoto who also played Iczer
One, so in the videos, they use the ‘Summon Iczer Robo’ sequence instead.

  Yuna is a cute, slender, medium height high school student with a thigh length

similar to Aeka from Tenchi Muyo. When in uniform, she can go mech bashing in
the best A-ko style and has a pistol that can level buildings and hit starships
in orbit.

  Among the other dramatis personae are Yuna’s teacher, Roppongi no Mai, aka Mai
Tokudaizi aka Mai the Foxy Lady, former Dark Fraulein. Roppongi is the night
club district in Tokyo and cocktail bunny capitol of the universe. Stereotypical
Roppongi girls are barmaids and prostitutes, making Mai’s high class debutante
airs kind of amusing. Her battle armor is a bunny girl hard suit and she swings
a mean five iron. She looks similar to Yuna, but with auburn hair and lots of
jewelry. Yuri Cube is practically attached to Yuna at the hip. An amnesiac
battle android that Yuna found in some ancient ruins on the moon, she seeks to

herself, at least to me. Has shoulder length red hair with four triangular blue

right, so I pretty much wrote her out of the story. Finally, there’s Liavelt von
Neuestein, aka Lia-chan, aka The Red Phoenix. Former leader of the Dark
Frauleins, she’s now Yuna’s mentor and best friend. Her day job is playing the
TV superheroine, Polylina the Masked Fraulein. Yuna is her biggest fan, but has
somehow completely failed to notice the connection between her two identities.
Lia-chan usually shows up for battle as Polylina because it makes Yuna happy.
Slim and athletic, with hip length silver hair, the former commander of the
legions of the Dark Universe is deliciously pragmatic and will stop at nothing

  There is some mild sexual innuendo in the anime and I just thought I’d take it
and run with it. Expect some heavy duty perversion without much benefit of a
plot. The anime takes place in the thirty-first century where twentieth century
retro seems to be the rage, because it doesn’t look futuristic at all except for
